In tonight’s lesson, we looked at the basics of Bagua Stick training. I love the stick forms my teacher Master Luo De Xiu taught me. We don’t have a huge amount of content, but what we do have is great.
In this lesson, I introduced the basic grip and the first drills, which were broken down into about four stages. Then I looked at how the staff connects with the body and how Luo laoshi told us to constantly hold and touch the staff, play with its balance in the hands and never put it down.
I spoke about using the body as a fulcrum between the hand’s positions on the stick; it makes a huge difference in the power and structure of the applications.
